ERITREA: CARMMA Launched in Eritrea

Shabait, Al Haditha and  Haddas Ertra reported on 16-17 September that that the Ministry of Health of the State of Eritrea, in collaboration with  UNFPA, UNICEF, and WHO launched the Campaign on Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Eritrea (CARMME). The theme of the event was “No woman should die while giving life: Eritrea Cares!” The campaign was officially launched in the capital, Asmara, on the 14 September by Minister of Health Amina Nurhusien. During the occasion, UNFPA Regional Director for Africa, Bunmi Makinwa expressed his satisfaction and appreciation for the successful launching of CARMME and highlighted that the overall performances so far recorded in the area of maternal mortality reduction is a testimony of the political commitment of the Government of State of Eritrea in meeting the MDGs and national development goals.
