Voice of Iraq, Independent Press Agency and Mada reported on 11 October on a training session held in Erbil from 5-9 October. The session was on the techniques used to call for change in the field of combating violence against women and concluded with a number of recommendations on reducing violence against women.
The session was set up by the Supreme Council for Women's Affairs in Kurdistan Region and the Office of the State Ministry for Women's Affairs in Iraq in cooperation with UNFPA and Kawthar Center, with the participation of representatives of a number of civil society organizations and government institutions in the region and other provinces in Iraq.
One of the most prominent results of this session was to draft a plan for the activities of the 16 days campaign against violence against women in Kurdistan, which highlighted a declaration of the Regional Government strategy to combat this type of violence, in an extended conference at the level of the entire region.
