CONGO-BRAZZAVILLE: Government Communication Advisers Trained in Population and Development

Tele-Congo, DRTV, MN TV, Top TV, and Radio Congo reported on 20 July on the opening ceremony of the first-ever capacity building workshop for the communication advisers of all government ministries. Jointly organized by UNFPA Representative David Lawson and Communication Minister Bienvenu Okiemy, through strategic communication on population and development issues, the training was aimed at enhancing government communication to create an enabling environment for greater participation in national development, and for the betterment of the peoples' living conditions. David Lawson said, "Strategic communication is an essential instrument to achieve development objectives. Through enhanced government communication on strategic population and development issues, UNFPA expects to expand its advocacy network and reach out further to the populations and decision-makers on women's health and youth."
