MALAWI: Deaths of Under-Five Children Still High

Nyasa Times on 22 October reported that deaths for children under five remain at a high rate. According to recently released statistics 30 of every 1,000 newborns die within the first 28 days of life. "UNFPA assistant resident Dorothy Nyasulu attributed the increase in under-five child deaths to lack of enough medical assistance to pregnant women in early stage of their pregnancy and after giving birth."
