BURKINA FASO: Le Pays on 19 December reported on the launch of the State of the World 2012. UNFPA Representative Dr. Kante is quoted saying, "We will continue to strengthen family planning activities, to support and assist the Government to fight against maternal mortality."

The Observateur Paalga on 19 December published an article on the launch of the report on the state of the world population. The paper said that during the ceremony UNFPA Representative Dr. Mamadou Kanté read the statement of Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin that "family planning is an essential investment, one of the most important things we can do in health, in women's rights and the life course of young people ...” The paper said that UNFPA, the Government of the United kingdom, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and other organizations have been able to mobilize funds in July 2012 to allow 120 million women in developing countries to access to family planning.
CAPE VERDE: Multiple media outlets on 18 December reported on the launch of the State of the World Population Report. UNFPA organized the official launch in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Network of Parliamentarians for Population and Development.
