BELARUS: Father Play Keys Role

News.mail.ru on 22 February and Ekonomika.by on 25 February reported that, effective 1 January, the law on state benefits for families with children no longer allows dads, artisans, entrepreneurs and lawyers to go on leave to care for a child. In this situation, mothers and other relatives should take care of the child. Tatiana Gaplichnik, the program coordinator of the United Nations Population Fund in Belarus said, “The involvement of men in the care and education of their child, is not only necessary for the general welfare of the family and the child, but also for the improvement of the demographic situation in the country.” Read in Russian: News.mail.ru and Ekonomika.by
