BURKINA FASO: Working On Maternal Health

Faso.net on 26 April, reported that 433 women suffering from obstetric fistula were treated with a success rate estimated at 89% in the Sahel region of Burkina Faso. These positive results have been obtained by the UNFPA-Burkina and the Ministry of Health through a project which was launched in 2008. To strengthen the fight against obstetric fistula and to reduce morbidity and maternal mortality to achieve the millennium development goal, the UNFPA-Burkina has also made an assessment of the needs of five health centres.
