GEORGIA: 2014 Population Census Discussed

Rustavi 2 on 24 June conducted an interview with Ms. Tamar Khomasuridze, UNFPA/Georgia Country Office Assistant Representative and Mr. Zaza Chelidze, Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia on the upcoming Georgian Population Census 2014. Following  up on United Nations’ recommendation to its member states regarding the timeframe for undertaking census, the Georgian government made a decision to  conduct the population census in 2014.  She underlined that based on its mandate, the United Nations Population Fund supports implementation of population and housing censuses in many countries across the globe. In Georgia UNFPA supported Population Census in 2002 and continues to provide financial and technical support for 2014 Census. Watch in Georgian: Rustavi 2
