BELARUS: Winners Awarded for Competition on Gender Issues

Belta.by on 5 September reported that "7 Days " Columnist Oksana Mytko, a team of authors from Broadcasting Company "Mogilev" and the editor of the regional information news agency BelTA Elena Prus became winners of the national contest among journalists for the best publication on gender issues. The competition was held in the framework of international technical assistance project "Development of national capacities in the Republic of Belarus to counter domestic violence in terms of gender equality," by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and UNFPA, with financial support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation (SIDA). A goal of the project was to raise awareness about domestic violence and the role of men and women in society and the family and gender politics of the state. Material submitted to the contest covered a wide range of topics - from reproductive health to protecting the rights of fathers and the distribution of family responsibilities.
