UGANDA: New Lease on Life for FGM Victims

The Monitor on 31 October reported on the August launch of gender-based violence shelters. The feature tells the story of survivors of FGM who are receiving rehabilitative services at the shelters.  Speaking at the launch of the safe house recently, UNFPA Country Director Esperance Fundira pledged to continue supporting girls who say no to FGM and forced marriages. She appealed to the district officials, NGOs, police and the local communities to join hands and fight against gender based violence. Read in English: The Monitor
