ARGENTINA: Maternal Health Report and Women’s Health Day

Multiple media outlets reported on 27 May that a report supported by UNFPA, UNICEF and WHO/PAHO explores the frequency and causes of maternal mortality in Argentina and the rest of the Latin America and Caribbean region. The report was released to coincide with the International Day For Action on Women’s Health and found that more than half of Argentina’s provinces report higher maternal mortality ratios than the national average, and that Argentina was one of three countries in which unsafe abortion was the most common cause of maternal mortality.
