GHANA: UNFPA Supports Female Flood Victims

GNA reported on 22 September that UNFPA presented 1,495 hygiene kits valued at $60,000 to the female victims of the June 20 floods in the Central Region through the National Disaster Management Organization. The kits are comprised of soap, toothpaste, sanitary pads, body cream, bathing and laundry soap, towels and bags to store the items. "In the face of disasters, hygiene kits can mean a world of difference between sickness and health for displaced families,” Bawa Amadu, Assistant Representative of the UNFPA said when he presented the kits to NADMO. "This would help to restore the sense of dignity of nursing mothers and the women and girls in the reproductive age who lost their belongings, in the recent floods in the Central Region." Read: GNA
