BURUNDI: UNFPA Promises to Support the Country to Reduce Demographic Pressure

Le Renouveau du Burundi reported on 19 October that after the visit of the Second Vice - President of the Republic of Burundi, Gabriel Rufyiri, to the headquarters of UNFPA in New York, UNFPA promised to support the country in reducing demographic pressure, said Ismaïla Mbengue, Representative of UNFPA Burundi. He said that UNFPA will contribute to organizing a policy forum with the government and assess how to involve opinion leaders on the basis of the results of the census. The data of the census will be used in formulating the DSRP. UNFPA will also address actions to be taken to enhance gender equality and reproductive health.
