DENMARK: COVERAGE OF UNFPA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR BABATUNDE OSOTIMEHIN’S VISIT TO NORDIC COUNTRIES

DENMARK: U-landsnyt reported on 4 and 6 February on a meeting between Babatunde Osotimehin, the new Executive Director of UNFPA, and the Danish Minister of Development Cooperation, Soren Pind. The two were expected to discuss global population dynamics and to sign a new agreement of 85 million DKK to support UNFPA’s humanitarian work. The agreement is linked to the new Danish humanitarian strategy 2010-2015 that will strengthen Denmark’s humanitarian input by safeguarding civilians in conflicts, crisis situations and in catastrophe areas. DENMARK: U-landsnyt reported on 1 February that the seminar “Welcome to the World – citizen no. 7 billion!” was to be held at the Danish Parliament the following week. Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin, the Executive Director of UNFPA, was to discuss his vision for UNFPA and the interrelation between population growth and climate change.  Read in Danish: U-landsnyt
