GLOBAL: CONTINUING COVERAGE ON NEW GLOBAL POPULATION PROJECTIONS
KENYA: The Daily Nation reported on 19 May on the impact of ARV treatment on life expectancy and population growth, noting that UNFPA Executive Director Babatunde Osotimehin said the agency would hold activities to engage partners and the public on the significance of this population milestone, saying, “A world of 7 billion is both a challenge and an opportunity.” UNFPA is planning a seven-day countdown starting on 24 October— United Nations Day — and leading up to the birth of the 7 billionth baby.
