GABON: UNFPA Chief’s Visit Concludes

Africa No.1 broadcast on 12 and 13 January a special interview of UNFPA Country Director David Lawson on maternal and women's health, youth, the UNFPA mandate and outcomes of the UNFPA Executive Director's visit to Gabon. Mr. Lawson underlined the need to strengthen family planning to save women's lives. He presented a summary of Dr. Osotimehin's discussions with President Bongo, key line ministers, parliamentarians and young people. Mr. Lawson said, "We salute President Bongo's commitment to maternal mortality reduction and look forward his announcement in Addis Ababa."
