BELARUS: More Women Needed At the Top

Tut.by on 17 April published an article discussing the lack of women in top leadership positions. Women make up 54% of the economically active population of Belarus and women in the country also achieve higher levels of education. Despite this, according to the National Statistics Committee 87% of senior managers in government structures are men and a similar pattern is also observed in the private sector. Tatiana Haplichnik, Program Coordinator for UNFPA described the current situation and suggests some reasons behind the lack of women in leadership in Belarus. Read in Russian: Tut.by
