SWAZILAND: Media Can Play Role in Reducing Maternal Deaths

The Swazi Observer on 14 August reported that Government SRH Programme Manager Phumzile Mabuza noted that the media had a critical role to play in the reduction of maternal deaths by informing mothers about danger signs when pregnant. Ms. Mabuza further stated that the Conference on Maternal and Newborn Child Health, organised by UNFPA and officially opened by South African President Jacob Zuma, has urged countries to “pull up their socks” in the effort to reduce maternal and newborn child mortality in their countries.
